Historic inn with reputation for fine food

The Church House Inn

The Church House Inn

28th April 2008

The Church House Inn is a fine historic inn which began life as a Benedictine monk's rest home, belonging to the old Buckfast Abbey.

Many of the great beams and stone walls are of the original structure, reputed to date from 1254.

The building was subsequently used to house the masons working on the local church building, hence the name of the pub.

The pub, which is run by experienced licencees Paul and Fiona Edmond, has a well deserved reputation for good food.

The Grade 2 Listed building is a popular house and draws trade from far and wide.

The Church House is prominently situated on the A379 Kingsbridge to Plymouth Road, approximately 1.5 miles west of Kingsbridge.
